Lumineers vs. Porcelain veneers
With the celebrities bringing brand new smiles to the media, the new in thing is having a brilliantly white, great smile. Over the years, the process has become more of a mainstream thing, making it easier for everyday people to buy their smiles also. Lumineers are a name brand veneer for your teeth to fix your smile or whiten your teeth. There are a few things that one may want to consider before choosing between Lumineers or porcelain veneers.
The obvious difference between porcelain veneers and Lumineers is the price. Porcelain veneers cost any where from a few hundred to a few thousand more than Lumineers. This can become an outrageous difference when you consider that the prices are per tooth.
Both of these products are very different when it comes to permanency. Lumineers are removable. They are a cap that is placed on your tooth. This doesn’t involve any shaving of enamel. Porcelain veneers are not removable. They must be repaired or replaced if broken with another Porcelain veneer. The process to get Porcelain veneers involves shaving the enamel down. The benefit is that they look more like your teeth and are more durable.
The decision to get Porcelain veneers or Lumineers is strictly on a personal level. While some are sold on saving money, others will be sold on permanency. If you chose to get either, it is advisable to do your own research, speaking with dentists in your area.
